Compared OnePlus 7 vs OnePlus 7T
1. 90Hz Display
Human eyes cannot grasp anything above 60HZ, but we can definitely witness the smoothness in 90Hz display. OnePlus 7 variants implemented with 90Hz superior responsive display and 7T followed the same traditional. The manufacturer bundled 100 mAh in the 7T, which designed to support the phone longer period. Along with 90Hz, the 6.65-inch Full-HD+ Fluid AMOLED display sporting 20:9 aspect ratio, and 2400×1080 pixels resolution. 7T secured HDR-10+ certification with maximum brightness up to 1000 nits, sRGB color gamut support and reduced blue light by 42%.
Considering OnePlus 7 variant consumers feedback, OnePlus removed curves edges, where consumer shared information about accidental touch complaints. Of course, they maintained a world-class waterproof feature on the phone. The company worked around the in-display fingerprint scanner, and they have tuned it up for faster performance. During the presentation, the company shared that OnePlus 7T unlocks in just 0.21 seconds.

2. Triple Camera
In 7T, the noticeable feature should be “Triple Camera” set-up that clicks superior quality photos. Unlike iPhone 11, OnePlus went with circular camera bump, and the bulky design might annoy newer consumers. I’m not complaining at this point after iPhone 11 was unveiled because Apple did a horrible job.
On-board, the phone rocks 48MP (f/1.6) Sony IMX586 sensor primary camera, the second one is ultra-wide-angle lens sporting 16MP (f/2.2) with a 117-degree field-of-view, and the third camera integrated with 12MP (f/2.2) telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Below the sensors, dual-LED flash situated for lightning.
The company claimed that the primary camera optically stabilized, and they have used Hybrid Image Stabilization (HIS) to stabilize video recording up to 4K/60FPS. However, you cannot record slo-mo videos at 4K resolution because the phone supports 720p super slow-mo video recording at 960fps.
OnePlus introduced UltraShot Engine in 7T variants to provide backlit photos and landscape photos. The camera UI tweaked to support newer technology and enables features like Nightscape (Night Mode). 7T promote also known as portrait mode utilizes dedicated 48MP camera.

3. Processor and Performance
Rumors started to spread ahead of the release that OnePlus 7T will come with Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. At the launch event, it was proved that OnePlus went with Snapdragon 855 Plus processor. Consumers have the option to select from 128GB + 8GB RAM, and 256GB + 8GB RAM with UFS 3.0 internal storage. We haven’t reviewed the phone yet, but I can tell that the processor does not make much of difference in real-time performance. In OnePlus 7 phone, you got Snapdragon 855 processor bundled with Android 9.0 out of the box, and the performance should match with the 7T variant.

4. Android 10 Out of the Box
Nobody addressed the elephant in the room, Android 10! OnePlus bundled the 7T phones with Android Q, which released on September 3, 2019, exclusively on Google Pixel phones. OnePlus announced that they are going to ship the 7T edition along with Android 10 update. It might take a while for older generation phones to receive software updates, but if you have not purchased an Android phone for a long time and looking for a replacement, then I highly recommend 7T.

5. OxygenOS 10
For starters, OnePlus introduced OxygenOS 10, which is an extra layer or skin applied on Android OS framework. OxygenOS 10 controls the environment & manipulates the functions to provide a customized experience.
Currently, OnePlus 7T standing on the mountain because they are the world’s first smartphone to come with Android 10 out-of-the-box. Of course, OxygenOS custom skin offers minor user-interface upgrades and tweaked to support new features.
In order to offer smoother experience, OxygenOS 10 embraced the landscape mode optimization to remove rotation and blinking effect. The Android Q full-screen gesture navigation available on OnePlus & OxygenOS, where consumers can back swipe gesture on both sides of the screen.
The on-screen notification shows information such as Music, Weather, Events, and more. Meanwhile, they optimized the sensitivity of the display, which led to improvised pick-up gestures. You got AI noise reduction, updated music application, improved camera UI, gallery app, and more.
6. Improved Fast Charger 30T
7T introduced improved wire charging that powered by 30W (6V/5A) charging technology. Originally, it was introduced in OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition last year and manufacturer improved it by adding graphene in the charging component. No wireless charger improved were given this time, so we cannot expect anything above this in the 7T edition phones. Also, Android Q brings good battery management, and with the assistance of OxygenOS 10, you get decent battery backup that lasts the entire day.
Bottom Line
I wouldn’t consider OnePlus 7T an upgradable phone for 7th edition consumers. Of course, the camera is a selling point for OnePlus consumers but is it worth spending more money on the overall upgrade? I would love to know your opinions in the comment section below.

I have started to lose my love for Oneplus phones, not because their phones aren’t good, but because they started bundling applications that are non-removable, or that cannot be disabled. One of them that I have particular issues with is Zen mode. I already advised Oneplus that until I can disable or remove that app, I will no longer upgrade my phone. Beside, I was happy with the 6T and I don’t see that much difference with the 7 pro. As a matter of fact, I find the beveled screen more annoying than useful. I never had a phone with a beveled edge before and I’ll avoid one in the future.
