How To Fix Bars On Display Issue?

Random patterns and bars are a cause of physical damage most commonly. Where the user damaged the phone, or it’s an out of the box assembly damage. But surely physical damage. So the only solution is the replacement of the damaged part, whether the display panel or the mainboard. Visit your nearest OnePlus service center as soon as possible.

Yellowish Display Issue

Some users report that their display has very warm color saturation. This means the display is showing a yellowish tone. But this is not a hardware or software issue, and it is a software feature known as Reading\Night mode. This reduces strain on your eyes while reading something or using your phone in very low lighting conditions. It is possible that you might have enabled it by mistake.

How To Fix Yellowish Display Issue?

As this not a hardware or software issue, we can solve it easily. You need to follow these steps to turn off Reading mode. Reading mode is there to help the user to reduce stress on the eyes. Here are the steps-

Note: There is a quick toggle button also available to turn on\off reading mode form quick settings option.

High Refresh Rate Not Working Issue

Generally, no major issue is reported regarding the new 120hz refresh rate. It is working fine on almost all devices. But some users are not aware of this feature. So this is a new technology in which the display refreshes itself 120 times per second, which in practice makes the display so much smoother. UI scroll-like fluid. To enable this, you may follow these steps-

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap on  Display.
  3. Click the Advanced option.
  4. Open Refresh Rate.
  5. Select between 60hz and 120hz. (120hz means more smooth)

OnePlus is famous for making premium flagship devices with a super smooth experience. Some people call it the fastest Android phone of 2020. And definitely OnePlus 8 Pro is a beast because of its specs sheet, but this time, people are not happy because of the OnePlus 8 Pro display issues, and these must be solved as soon as possible. Whether it’s a hardware or software issue, it should be solved. So it’s better to wait for some time before you upgrade your daily driver with a new OnePlus 8 Pro.

But is that enough to buy the latest OnePlus 8 pro or customers can satisfy with OnePlus 7 pro instead? 8 Pro’s hardware looks pretty same this year with subtle changes, but inside there are unique features that are not found on any other OnePlus phone. The most significant features in 8 Pro is Wireless charging( ah! finally), water and dust resistance, and 5G. Wireless charging is supported by a 70$ OnePlus charger, It charges half of the battery in twenty minutes, and that’s incredible speed. Hidden Features of OnePlus 7 Pro

oneplus 7 pro

Although OnePlus flexes valuable features in its every phone, there are some hidden traits that you will find very useful. While most of the Android phones out there have a Display frame rate of 60Hz per second, 7 Pro offers a frame rate of 90Hz per second. This makes scrolling through social media and webpages feel fluid. Its ability to zoom is incredible, with 3X zoom combined with 10X digital zoom means the camera can zoom into faraway objects and still manage to provide clarity and stability.

OnePlus 7 Pro allows you to adjust refresh rate and resolution. It is the first mainstream smartphone to provide a high refresh rate display. Another useful feature is the Zen Mode. It cuts you from all distracting notifications or text messages and emails and helps you to focus.

Hidden Features of OnePlus 8 Pro

oneplus 8 pro

The quad-camera setup on the rear provides a luxury of photography options. Through features like 30x zoom ability, ultra-wide-angle-lens, new color filter camera, powerful night mode, your every shot will be a perfect shot. One of its most appreciable features is Its high refresh rate, which is 120Hz, which means the display can render 120 frames per second (I know how fascinating it can be for gamers). The phone contains a Snapdragon 865 Chipset that comes with Qualcomm’s X55 5G modem that allows you to experience great internet speed.

OnePlus 8 Pro’s “Reading Mode” is an amazing feature. It automatically adjusts the color of the display and makes it opt for your eyes to read. Additionally, if you have installed KindleApp, you can automate the reading mode when opening the app. OnePlus 8 Pro authorizing you to control your privacy provides you a feature to keep your apps secret in hidden space. The device comes with a novel feature: Smart Boost. Smart Boost, with the help of Snapdragon Chipset 865, launches the apps faster than any other OnePlus phone.

Which one should you buy?

Indeed OnePlus is presenting an array of new specs and features, but the thing is these new additions are so miniature—not game-changing. One essential thing to notice here is; OnePlus didn’t give up 7 Pro’s features while producing 8 Pro. That means 7 Pro has everything in it what 8 Pro is offering with some additions. This always isn’t what smartphone companies do. You have to know that a high-price for one year upgrade doesn’t seem reasonable, and what you’re getting for such a high price is not going to be intriguing for some people.

The OnePlus 8 Pro stays the most costly smartphone of OnePlus, and that was presumed as the company is increasing the price of their phones each year (to catch up with trendy brands). The price for the OnePlus 8 Pro starts with 899$ for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage variant. That’s 200$ more than 7 Pro’s starting price, and 100$ than 7T Pro’s. No one thing jumps as a primary feature or spec that would make you ship immediately when factoring in 8 Pro’s higher price.

So the winner is OnePlus 7 Pro as you people assumed. Yes, we appreciate 8 Pro presents more colors, brightness, wireless charging(an extension of 70$), and other additions. But when comparing OnePlus 7 Pro vs 8 Pro, look at the price, and the 7 Pro’s features these new annexes in 8 Pro look petty. You get a handful of features in 7 Pro, which is as developed and advanced as in 8 Pro in 699$. OnePlus 7 Pro is worth its price, whereas 8 Pro is also great with extra features but asking a lot for those features.

5 Best OnePlus 8 Pro Accessories You Should Buy

Best OnePlus 8 Pro Accessories: OnePlus has recently launched OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro in an online event due to the recent outbreak and restrictions imposed by governments across the globe. There are many consumers, who would love to add multiple accessories to OnePlus smartphone. In this list, we are going to compile 5 best accessories for OnePlus 8 Pro. Remember, OnePlus accessories are available across the globe, and you can even find alternatives in the market.

OnePlus 8 Pro accessories

Best OnePlus 8 Pro Accessories

1. OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z

The manufacturer followed Apple, in terms, of selling multiple accessories separately and generates additional revenue from the brand. Bullets Wireless Z is a wireless earphone that produces exceptional sound for music lovers, and listen to the latest music in an immersive sound system.

oneplus bullets z

The neckband technology requires 10 minutes of charge for 10 hours of playback, and that’s the selling point of the product. The 9.2mm dynamic driver produces high-quality sound and a super bass tone that is priced at $26 in Asian countries and even lower in the global market.

Related: 12 Best USB-C Headphones

OnePlus bundles Warp Charger in 8 and 8 Pro, and you can use the universal charger in Bullets Wireless Z and that’s another reason why I suggested the wireless earphone edition to the consumers. The manufacturer spent a lot of time in creating a sound profile and compatibility for newer editions of the smartphone. You can purchase the product in four colours Black, Mint, Oat, and Blue.

2. Wireless Charger

OnePlus Wireless Charger

Finally, OnePlus supports wireless charging, but the manufacturer did not bundle the brick in the box. As I have mentioned earlier that OnePlus is following Apple footsteps, and selling plenty of important accessories separately.

Anyways, OnePlus is planning to launch or launched 30W Warp Wireless Charger designed to charge every single modern OnePlus phone, earbuds, wireless earphones, and more. The company did not mention further details about the product, but it supports OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro and charges the phone at a faster pace without compromises.

The manufacturer did not mention this important information, but you cannot use 30W Warp Wireless Charger as a universal charger for other devices as you typically do with other Qi wireless chargers. Due to the proprietary technology involvement, 30W Warp Wireless Charger won’t pass higher voltage to non-OnePlus devices. The universal charge output is 5W and that’s pretty slow for modern standards.

3. Warp Charge 30 Car Charger

Many of us constantly travel one place to another or travel to the office, and we do use transport vehicles to increase convenience and save time. Of course, we do not have enough time to charge our phones, while preparing to go to the office.

Fortunately, OnePlus is launched Warp Charge 30 Car Charger for modern phones and it comes in handy if you spend 30 minutes while driving to the office. OnePlus promises to deliver a 50% charge in just 30 minutes. The manufacturer used Warp Charge 30 Power Adapter in the car charger, and you won’t be disappointed at all.

I do have problems with premium pricing on the car charger because it comes for $25 and that’s expensive. Regardless of the price, I would suggest OnePlus Warp Charge 30 Car Charger for consumers, who can afford it, and need this convenience.

4. Tempered Glass

I avoided tempered glass in the past, and I regretted it. I would not suggest one brand or specific product since tempered glass or screen protectors comes in different variants and qualities.

Also check: 10 best OnePlus 7T screen protectors

The quality should be 9H Hardness because that could hold off a harsh environment. Frankly speaking, you have to look for Oleophobic Nano-coating tampered glass and that’s the only specification. Make sure to double-check, whether you are having additional touch problems. Especially, check out the gaming experience after adding tempered glass.

5. Mobile Tripod

OnePlus finally refined the camera system in the 8th edition after hundreds of reviewers criticised the lack of flagship quality in the previous generations. The Chinese brand took this blow and brought a better camera setup in the newer editions, and of course, the front camera department still needs refreshment for a flagship.

The primary camera setup is a triple camera and can record high-quality videos including 2K resolution in 60fps/30fps. Many mobile experts would suggest the consumers go for gimbals, but I don’t think that’s necessary for an average consumer.

Related: Fix camera issues on OnePlus phones

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro wouldn’t call themselves “flagship” without real-time image stabilization. You no longer have to spend $200 on expensive gimbals and go for sturdy $10 – $30 mobile tripods to capture photos, and videos for YouTube, Social media, and TikTok.

Please don’t be a cheapskate on tripods because they hold the entire phone and low-quality variants can break your phone. Honestly, I ordered one from Amazon, and it didn’t even last longer, and that’s why to prefer a high-quality product.

Bottom Line

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro back covers and protective covers are not available because the smartphone launched a few days back in an online event, you can always check out online shopping websites and local market for accessories.

Let us know which accessory are you planning to buy alongside your new OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro in the comment section below.

OnePlus 8 Pro: Everything you need to know

OnePlus 8 Pro Specs, Price: OnePlus has launched next generation phones in an online event that was scheduled long ago, and the company chooses to respect reviewers & reporters’ health before business during pandemic situations. Now that we have the latest OnePlus 8 Pro packed with some serious hardware for gaming and daily power usage.

The real question is, whether it is suitable to replace 7th generation phones or stick to what we have for now? In this quick information guide, I will answer all questions and provide quick notes.

OnePlus 8 Pro

OnePlus 8 Pro Specifications

Flagship Processor

oneplus 8 pro processor
OnePlus 8 Pro Processor

OnePlus 8 Pro powered by Snapdragon 865, which is a flagship processor by Qualcomm. The latest Snapdragon X55 modem onboard is designed for 5G connectivity that supports SA and NSA 5G modes. Meanwhile, you have the fastest 12GB 12GB of LPDDR5 mobile RAM and have up to 256GB of storage based on UFS 3.0 technology. OnePlus managed to boost the performance and all thanks go to HPB (Host Performance Booster) technology.

Note: 5G connectivity won’t make any sense for the most of the countries because 4G is still being utilised by most of the Telecommunication companies, and I don’t see developing nations to set up 5G spectrums anytime soon. The on-going Telecommunication company debts in many countries are not creating positive vibes for 5G network establishment.

120Hz QHD + AMOLED Display

oneplus 8 pro display
OnePlus 8 Pro Display

OnePlus 8 Pro shines with taller 6.78-inch QHD+ Fluid AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and 240Hz touch sampling rate. I want to point out this upgrade when compared to OnePlus 8 Pro that had a 90Hz 2K+ resolution panel.

The OnePlus management also reported that device owners can upscale 24FPS content to 120FPS for an immersive experience. Of course, the visual content won’t go on par with a higher frame rate video file, but it does eliminate choppiness in the video file.

The MEMC chip inside OnePlus supports modern applications such as VLC Media Player, MX Player, and other Chinese apps. Also, the MEMC chip supports streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Amazon Prime, YouTube, etc.

Quad-Camera Setup

oneplus 8 pro camera
OnePlus 8 Pro Camera

OnePlus 8 Pro implemented minor improvements in the quad-camera setup. The primary camera sports 48MP (f/1.78) Sony IMX689 sensor that has already made its way to the market in the form of Oppo Find X2. The 48MP (f/2.2) Sony IMX586 sensor covers ultra-wide-angle with a 120-degree Field-of-view. You have an 8MP (f/2.4) telephoto lens that is capable of 30x digital zoom and 3x hybrid zoom. OnePlus introduced a colour filter camera that enables OnePlus 8 Pro to capture filtered photos.

The company stabilised the primary & telephoto camera optically (include OIS) to capture stunning videos. The dual-LED flash and laser autofocus work as advertised and no complaints here.

oneplus 8 pro camera sample
OnePlus 8 Pro Camera Sample

Speaking of Selfie Camera? OnePlus 8 Pro rocks 16 MP (f/2.5) that supports 1080p recording at 30FPS. Unfortunately, OnePlus needs to invest heavily in the front camera department because it lacks a flagship front camera knack.

IP Rating/Certification

The dust & water resistance certification is a notable feature on flagship phones, and OnePlus always ignored it to lower the manufacturing & selling cost. However, OnePlus 8 Pro is IP68 certified, which means that the phone can survive 1.5 meters of water up to 30 minutes. 8 Pro also won’t bow down to dust particles and will survive in the long run.

oneplus 8 pro wireless charger
OnePlus 8 Pro Wireless Charger

OnePlus started to leave clues all over the internet before the release, so we were pretty much informed about the battery capacity and the contents. OnePlus 8 Pro powered by 4,510 mAh battery that comes with Warp Charge 30T wired fast-charger. The charging brick can juice up the battery from 0% to 100% within 70 minutes.

But, OnePlus should have introduced 50W fast-charger because they are charging a premium for the phone. Meanwhile, Realme X2 Pro launched 50W fast-charger at a much lesser price-point. I strongly believe that OnePlus is planning to add this minor upgrade to the T-edition coming by the end of the year.

Finally, OnePlus 8 Pro also supports wireless charging and it is a 30W fast-charger. Yes, you read it right, and you can charge the phone from 0% to 100% in 70 minutes using a wireless charger and that’s good news. However, you have to pay $70 for the wireless charger that supports reverse wireless charging. You can charge the phone, earbuds, smartwatches, and more.

Note: OnePlus wireless charging is a proprietary technology and universally it charges at 5W. In short, you cannot replace the primary wireless charger that juices up almost every device at home or office.

Both OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro packed with essential connectivity options. Starting with USB Type-C port (charging), Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.0, GALILEO (location services), Dual-band A-GPS, NFC (payments), and NavIC.

What’s missing?

Unfortunately, OnePlus mocked Apple for removing 3.5mm in iPhone 7 and later they followed the trend, the good old irony. The 3.5mm headphone jack is still missing, but the dual stereo speakers were improved for overall high-quality sound production.

New OxygenOS Features

oneplus 8 pro oxygen os
OnePlus 8 Pro Oxygen OS

OxygenOS 10 is the cleanest skin over the Android 10 mobile operating system. The 10th edition offers cleaner user-interface and intuitive features. I want to highlight some important features like Game Space, Smart Display, Wind Down, Block by Keywords, App Permissions and more. The highly optimised mobile operating system brings flagship performance and provides an optimal environment.

Colours, Price and Availability

oneplus 8 pro colours
OnePlus 8 Pro Colour Variants

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will be available from 14th April 2020. Currently, OnePlus announced two variants of 8 Pro in 3 colours:

  • 8GB RAM + 128GB base variant for $899
  • 12GB RAM + 256GB high-end variant for $999

OnePlus 8 Pro Colours:

  • Glacial Green
  • Ultramarine Blue
  • Onyx Black

Bottom Line

OnePlus phone pricing increased drastically from the past two years, and $999 for the high-end variant is pretty premium pricing now. Most of the existing consumers purchased the phone because OnePlus was the flagship killer and the lower offered price. However OnePlus has finally delivered what a premium flagship phone should offer to it’s customers to justify the price. Let me know what you think about OnePlus 8 Pro in the comments section below.

OnePlus 8: Everything you need to know

OnePlus 8 Specs, Price: OnePlus has surprised us with the launch of the 8th edition of former flagship killer smartphones amidst pandemic situations around the world. The online event consists of information that already been leaked online several weeks before the initial launch. I do have plenty of information to share on the new edition of OnePlus 8 series.

Now, let us jump straight towards the highlights of the phone and make a final decision on whether it is a suitable device to upgrade or stick to the older generation.

oneplus 8

OnePlus 8 Specifications

Flagship Processor

oneplus 8 processor
OnePlus 8 Processor

Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon 865 chipset, which stands as a flagship processor for 2020 and OnePlus added it to the latest generation. Of course, the 8th edition managed by 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB (UFS 3.0) storage.

The eye candy technology is Snapdragon X55 modem onboard for 5G connectivity, but I want to point out that it won’t come in handy for most of the consumers. Talking about the future proof device, Snapdragon X55 supports SA and NSA 5G modes.

Note: 5G technology is being advertised around the globe, even though the majority of the countries don’t have the proper infrastructure to build a 5G spectrum. I want to inform the readers to consider other factors of the phone excluding the 5G network.

90Hz AMOLED Display

oneplus 8 display
OnePlus 8 Display

OnePlus 8 brings minor upgrades when compared to the previous predecessor.

The new display name is quite a mouthful name Full-HD+ Fluid AMOLED display offers a 90Hz refresh rate and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. The dual-curved edges display has a punch-hole cutout, where a high-quality 16MP selfie shooter being placed.

OnePlus took the resolution to maximum this time around and brought 1080 x 2400 resolutions with 20:9 aspect ratios. Similar to competitors, they brought HDR 10+ features to the 8th edition, and the brightness peaks 1100 nits. Speaking of the flagship, the OnePlus 8 display is secured by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.

Note: 90Hz Display won’t make any difference in everyday usage, and the majority of the games don’t support the 90Hz refresh rate, and in short, it’s not a big deal for the average consumers.

Triple Cameras

OnePlus 8 Camera
OnePlus 8 Camera

OnePlus brand has always been criticised for not having a flagship camera setup on the phones. The authority has promised to invest heavily in this department in the last segment. The primary shooter packs 48MP (f/1.8) Sony IMX586 sensor with OIS, while 16MP is dedicated to ultra-wide pictures. The brand did add a macro camera, but I wouldn’t comment on it until we have a proper hands-on review on it.

The previous generation shortcomings were audio zoom, 3-HDR video, etc. Now, we have to keep an eye out for the independent macro camera, whether it compensates for the telephoto lens or not. I do ask the readers to wait for our in-depth review or watch a proper hands-on review from well-known YouTube creators.

Battery (No Improvements)

OnePlus 8 Battery
OnePlus 8 Battery

OnePlus 8 bundled with 4300mAh battery backed by 30T fast-charging (Warp Charge) support. Overall, OnePlus did not spend plenty of consideration in the charging department and most probably saving the upgrade for T-edition dropping later down the line.

The Realme X2 Pro supports 50W SuperWarp fast-charging and comes under the lesser budget bracket. Of course, I would point that 30T fast-charging is more than enough, but I would not consider this phone as an upgrade from the previous generation.

Speaking of connectivity, OnePlus is following Apple’s trend of removing 3.5mm headphone jack. You won’t miss out on essential connectivity options such as USB Type-C port (charging), Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 6th generation (802.11ax), NFC (for payments), GALILEO (location services), dual-band A-GPS and more.

You got Dual Stereo Speakers in OnePlus 8 that might compensate missing 3.5mm headphone jack option.

New OxygenOS Features

oneplus 8 oxygen os
OnePlus 8 Oxygen OS

OxygenOS 10 is based on Android 10 coupled with OnePlus 8 that supports Amazon Alexa, and Google Stadia out-of-the-box. The AOD (Always-on Display) packed with modern features including Live Captions, Dark theme, Dynamic wallpapers, and more. Overall, OxygenOS 10 runs on a modern Android mobile operating system and highly optimised for optimal performance.

OnePlus 8 (Compromise)

IP Rating or IP Certification is an important factor in 2020. Unfortunately, OnePlus did not introduce IP Rating to keep the manufacturing cost lower and reduce the selling price. However, OnePlus 8 Pro launched with IP Certification and is the first phone to have IP certified.

OnePlus 8 Price and Availability

oneplus 8 colour variants
OnePlus 8 Colour Variants

OnePlus 8 is available in 3 colours and two variants:

  • 8GB + 128GB base variant for $699
  • 12GB + 256GB high-end variant for $799

OnePlus 8 Colours:

  • Glacial Green
  • Interstellar Glow

OnePlus authority announced that the phone is available from 14th April 2020 during the launch event, but the pandemic situation resulted in the unforeseen market shift. OnePlus is a Chinese brand and might not able to release the phones and ship them globally until the COVID-19 presence is eliminated.

Bottom Line

The popular Chinese brand is taking a lot of heat from global consumers because the company roots connect to the current pandemic situation. I have also seen tremendous backlash from the consumers for being an overpriced device, and I would love to see how everything will transpire. I would love to know your thoughts on OnePlus 8 features and pricing in the comment section below.
